There are reports of two dead and over a hundred injured as the Annual Boston Marathon’s finish line was rocked by two successive explosions in Downtown Boston today. A third explosion was reported as having taken place at John F. Kennedy Library although it is reported as not being linked to the Marathon Finish Line attacks.
This year’s edition marks the 117th Marathon which takes place every year on Patriots’ Day, a holiday in Massachusetts when hundreds of thousands line the route to cheer the runners.
The Boston Marathon, along with New York and London are perhaps the three biggest Marathons and a terror attack around the Finish Line would have been calculated to do a lot of damage as well as gotten a lot of attention around the world as photo-journalists in their hundreds are always at the Finish Line.
The United States’ Federal Bureau of Information has described the explosions as “terror attack”.
President Obama has addressed the nation and although he did not describe the explosions as a “terror attack”, the Federal Bureau of Information has reportedly used the “terror” tag.
“We will find out who did it”, Obama vowed.
